How to save money while planning your big day

Posted: 31st Jan

Your wedding day will be a day to remember but with the right planning and budget, you can stay on track and cut a few costs. Here’s some of our top tips to help you save on your wedding day!

Make a list

First of all, make a list. Write down everything you’d like to have included in your wedding day, from big costs like the venue and the dress to the smaller elements such as the favours and decorations. Prioritise your list with what you want to put the bulk of your budget towards then work your way back and look for seasonal deals. Wedding venues are typically more expensive from April – September and on weekends. To cut costs at your dream venue, consider a mid-week date, or a winter wedding.

Hirewear

A simple way to keep costs down when it comes to weddingwear – renting. For those who are sure their outfit will be one and done and don’t want to hold on to it in the future, renting is a great way to ensure you can still dress up for your big day and look the part in all of your pictures. Slater Menswear offer a hirewear service for not only groomwear but all weddingwear, perfect for anyone who is attending an upcoming wedding but doesn’t want to commit to splurging on a full outfit to keep. With a broad range of formalwear, eveningwear and highlandwear, there will be something to suit every style and no need to make an appointment! Find out more about Slater’s hire service here.

Alternative desserts

If a large cake doesn’t suit your needs and you would like a smaller option, why not try an alternative dessert that will feed your guests and save on costs, such as a selection of wedding cupcakes or macarons? Torta by Katalin not only make impressively grand wedding cakes, they also make an array of mouth-watering sweet and savoury buffets of rustic grazing platters including sandwiches, tarts, fruit and edible flowers.
