Makeup artist advice for all-day bridal makeup

Posted: 22nd Apr

When it comes to your wedding day, you want your make-up to be radiant and picture perfect all day long. Popular Glasgow make-up artists, Louise Tumilty (Elle Makeup) and Ashleigh Boyle (Ashleigh Makeup Artist), have helped hundreds of brides feel flawless on their big day and we’ve asked them to put together their favourite products and beauty tips to help all brides feel gorgeous for their special occasion.

Alex Steinherr X Primark Oil-free Gel Hydrator

This moisturiser is amazing to wear underneath makeup for oily skins. Not only is it a brilliant bargain, priced at only £5, this moisturiser will help your makeup last all day long by giving your skin just enough hydration.

NARS Radiance Primer and NARS Smooth and Protect Primer combo

If you’re looking for a dewy glow but struggle with an oily t-zone, this NARS primer combo is the answer to your prayers. Use a little bit of the NARS Radiance Primer on the outer part of the face and use NARS Smooth and Protect Primer on the centre to control shine.

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Pressed Powder

Powdering is a must for long-lasting makeup and Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder is my absolute favourite for wedding makeup. This a finely milled powder, which gives you the most flawless finish without being cakey.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Spray

Us make-up artists have tried and tested endless types of setting sprays and I still swear by Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Spray. This is the ultimate finisher to any look and will hold it in place for over 12 hours – which means you can make it all through your big day without worrying about your makeup budging.

Top tip

Once your makeup is finished, take a picture of yourself or ask your photographer to take a picture of you. Photography washes out the colour of your face, so you may need to go slightly heavier than usual.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light is my all-time favourite foundation for wedding makeup and never lets me down. It’s a light foundation that creates a flawless base and minimises pores without looking heavy. Once set with powder, this foundation will stay in place all day long.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer

For flawless makeup, use Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer. This product blends like a dream and doesn’t crease – great for a day full of photographs. Even though this is a full coverage concealer, it is lightweight and lasts all day.

Iconic London Illuminator

To give yourself that wedding day glow, mix a couple of drops of the Iconic London Illuminator to your foundation or primer. It glides beautifully onto the skin and creates a gorgeous natural glow.

Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

This cult-favourite powder is perfectly weightless, smooths imperfections and reduces the appearances of pores and fine lines, giving you the perfect finish for your wedding day look.

Top tip

When choosing your bridal look always aim to be yourself, just enhanced. A drastic change is something you might regret.
