We’re getting ready for another exciting weekend at The Scottish Wedding Show and we can’t wait to meet the lovely couples attending this year!


Having exhibited since 2012 at The Scottish Wedding Show and taking part in every spring and autumn show since then, it really is our favourite show to attend. The buzz surrounding the show, the exhibitors taking part and the amazing couples and groups who attend really make the show a roaring success every year and one which we look forward to participating in.


From our very first 2x1 stand back in 2012 to our 5x1 stand this year, we’ve used the show as a platform to showcase our ever-expanding range and to meet with couples from all over Scotland and even further afield. Going from showing around 20 designs to over 50 creations is such an achievement for the business and one we are very proud of.


At the show we love spending time chatting to everyone and showcasing our newest designs – it’s at The Scottish Wedding show where everyone gets the first glimpse of DollyBird’s newest designs, materials and ideas. We also love getting the opinions of customers over the weekend too.


This year is no different as we’re bringing some new and exciting designs and will be displaying some quirky materials too! As a brand we are continually developing and testing new ideas to move with the times and the ever-changing needs of the 21st century couple, be it from our newest decal mirror designs to larger scale invitations and even the developed wording required for some couples’ wedding stationery.


Like all years we know we will see some friendly faces (from past and current couples, to family members of those we have already worked with) but we will also see some disappointed couples too  - participating in the show allows us to confirm dates quite quickly and with only 2 weddings booked per wedding week, our dates do fill up rather fast. But we have the diaries ready to check dates quickly and let customers know if we are available for all their wedding stationery needs. Let’s hope we are! 


Although the show is a weekend event, the planning and preparation can take weeks in the lead up to the show and days to recover from too! From designing, making and pricing to preparing, build up and set up, all the way to the dismantling at the very end of the show – it’s a whole process which isn’t as glamourous as the beautiful stands you see at the show. But we love it and that’s why we’re back for more again!


Every year we learn from the previous and this year is no different – we took note of the trends and new colours that were becoming popular, have our winners from October prepped and ready to go and also some new ideas which customers requested too. Our stand has changed in size but design wise it has stayed pretty similar over the years, with customers so complimentary on the overall layout and appeal it has when shopping the show – we want to make it comfortable and accessible, with a variety available for all to see. We keep it quite simple in colour and always do some trend spotting for the year ahead, showing couples what they might expect to see and what is looking popular (but with couples attending ever further in advance we are having to predict for more years than ever before).
